Dow AgroSciences Day at Operation School Bell®
Monday, November 4th was named Dow AgroSciences Day at Operation School Bell in recognition of Dow AgroSciences’ ongoing support and generous donations to Assistance League of Indianapolis. Visiting the Operation School Bell Shop were Antonio Galindez, CEO of Dow AgroSciences; Tim Hassinger, Vice President, Crops Platform Global Business Unit for DowAgroSciences; Dow AgroSciences Supply Chain Department members: Ben Crockett, Mark Robinson and Tony Fisher; and special guest Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard.
Due to Dow AgroSciences’ latest gift of $10,000, the hardware and software for an
inventory and scanning system was implemented at Operation School Bell this August. In addition, because of the generosity of time donated by the team from Dow’s supply chain department to evaluate our needs and install the technology, Operation School Bell can currently electronically manage the purchasing, tracking and distribution of its inventory, as well as manage the database of the students who receive all new school clothing and personal items. The system Dow AgroSciences developed for Operation School Bell has the ability to scan the annual amount of 60,000 new clothes and supplies given to students at “checkout”, saving time for both our member-shoppers and the behind-the-scenes inventory managers.
In the day’s opening remarks, Andrea Arbore, president of Assistance League of Indianapolis said, “The time saved during the shopping day offers significant opportunities. We can also set our focus on the quality of interaction between our shoppers and the students. There is less time focusing on paper! Assistance League of Indianapolis takes great pride in the one-on-one experience with the child. We don’t just give away clothing and personal items. We spend valuable time with each child, listening and learning about them, giving them choices, and making them feel special.”
Assistance League values and appreciates the support that both Dow AgroSciences, with their involvement in Operation School Bell’s expansion and infrastructure development, and Mayor Ballard, in his visits to fund raising events and Proclamations, have given the organization over the
