Welcome

Serving the Indianapolis community since 1984.

Founded in 1919, Assistance League®, a nonprofit, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization, recognized the potential of volunteers in helping those less fortunate to build better, more meaningful lives. The organization of dedicated volunteers continued to expand its community service and refine its philanthropic philosophy. In 1935, a national organization, National Assistance League® was formed with the vision of a nation-wide effort to carry the principles of Assistance League to other cities. Today Assistance League chapters can be found across the United States.

Assistance League of Indianapolis is a chapter of National Assistance League. Assistance League of Indianapolis (ALI) was organized in 1984 and chartered in 1988, with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. A 12-member Board of Directors governs our current members. We have no salaried staff or paid employees. Our Board of Directors is a working Board, member-elected and meets monthly. Our current philanthropic programs include ALI Bears, ALI Caps, ALI Friends, Assault Survivor Kits®, Operation School Bell® and Shoes: A Division of Operation School Bell (Shoes Division).

National Assistance League® was founded in California in 1935 and now has 117 chapters and guilds throughout the country. Assistance League® of Indianapolis is the 78th Chapter of National Assistance League.
