Assistance League of Indianapolis (ALI), the 78th chapter of National Assistance League was organized in 1984 and chartered in 1988, with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. On average, the organization boasts 210 member-volunteers and has a 12-member board of directors. We have no salaried staff or paid employees. Our board of directors, a member-elected working board, meets monthly.
As a member-volunteer association our members are the strength of our organization. For the year beginning June 1, 2008 thru May 31, 2009, members devoted 24,307 charitable hours, which if paid by an employer would calculate to $499,022.* The Assistance League of Indianapolis 2009-2010 fiscal year expense budget is $428,740. Approximately 88% of all funds spent are returned to the community through the philanthropic programs. All funds remain in the Indianapolis area and surrounding communities.
