ALI Friends was established in 1990 to offer companionship and caring to the lives of older or disabled adults who may be lonely and distant from loved ones. Assistance League members plan and participate in a variety of activities, including games, reading, music, and clerical help. Assistance League also hosts monthly birthday parties as well as seasonal parties.
ALI Friends serves Joy's House, a not-for-profit adult day care center, and North Capitol Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
During the past fiscal year, ALI Friends provided Joy’s House with a food transporter, birthday and holiday gifts for their 45 clients, themed parties each month, and a $1,000 scholarship to help offset client’s expenses. At North Capitol, ALI Friends provided a new easy access magazine rack, radios for several resident’s rooms, holiday gifts for 110 clients, and welcome bags for new residents. Presently we only visit North Capitol bi-monthly, but this coming fiscal year, we will increase our visits to include every month. Assistance League is committed to enriching and improving the quality of life for its ALI Friends.
