Our 2006-2007 fiscal year kicked off with a wonderful, inspiring guest speaker, Mrs. Judy O'Bannon, former First Lady of Indiana. Mrs. O'Bannon's speech was positive, stimulating and extremely motivating. Mrs. O'Bannon has been a supporter of Assistance League of Indianapolis for many years.
| In the year 2000 she helped to launch Shoes: A Division of Operation School Bell. She referenced in her speech that Assistance League members are giving those intangibles to children to help them feel like they can hang with the rest of the kids. You are also giving them basics like a toothbrush and underwear. You are connecting kids with the world outside of their problems and showing that people do care and want to help. The annual Holiday Luncheon has become one of Assistance League’s favorite events. This year the luncheon broke a new attendance record with 454 guests. The tables were beautifully adorned with poinsettia centerpieces while the pink and lime green color scheme blanketed the event. Special guests included grant representatives from foundations who support Assistance League and media guests. The silent auction was overflowing with delightful edible treats and holiday decorative items. Ticket sales, silent auction profits and proceeds from The Secret Ingredient Style Show came together to raise a net surplus of $19,200 to help fund our five philanthropic programs. The 2007 Holiday Luncheon will take place on Thursday, November 29th. For more information on the Holiday Luncheon please contact us at Holiday@alindy.org.
