Our History
Assistance League of Indianapolis, the 78th chapter of National Assistance League was organized in 1984 and chartered in 1988, with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. On average, the organization boasts 200 +/- member-volunteers and has a 13-member Board of Directors. We have no salaried staff or paid employees. Our board of directors, a member-elected working board, meets monthly.
As a member-volunteer association our members are the strength of our organization. For the year beginning June 1, 2023 through May 31, 2024, members devoted 27,507.69 charitable hours, which if paid by an employer would calculate to $921,242.54.
The Assistance League of Indianapolis 2023-24 fiscal year expense budget was $557,300.
*According to the U.S. Department of Labor, at the end of the fiscal year of May 31, 2023, the value of one volunteer hour is estimated to be $33.49.
