ALI Bears provide comfort and a sense of peace to ill, traumatized or grieving children, teens, and adults. These cuddly teddy bears assist in the healing process by filling empty arms with a friend to hug, love and care for.
Pictured is one of 220 bears Assistance League® of Indianapolis gives to Brooke's Place to help grieving children. It was on display at the Legacy of Hope breakfast where President Elect Rosy Crowley and ALI Bears Chairman Barbara Goodwin attended on Thursday., November 19, 2016.
Since it began in 1987, plush bears have been given to children and adults struggling with grief, serious illness, or trauma. Assistance League members dress bears in an Assistance League t-shirt,
ALI Bears are delivered by Assistance League volunteers to area agencies such as hospitals, hospices, and family service centers. Funds needed for the supplies and administration of the program are provided through donations from foundations, corporations, businesses, and individuals.
